Nursery Activity Ideas - Autumn Hand Print Tree
This activity can be used to create an autumn display with children of all ages.
Cut out a tree trunk and some branches and allow the children to paint them brown. Then ask the children to make a number of hand prints using different shades of brown paint. Once the hand prints have dried cut them out and attach them to the tree branches and place some on the ground to create an effective autumn tree display.

i have used this activity before with 2 – 3 yr olds using red, yellow, orange and brown paint for the leaves, which we made using handprints. i explained to the children about the different changes that happen with leaves in autumn and when they go brown and die they fall to the floor, so we stuck our brown leaves on the floor. the display looked lovely on the wall as the coooured leaves really drew attention to it, i will repeat the activity this year but will make a few changes such as collect real leaves when we go on a walk so we can examine them and stick them on to the display and also collect some sticls and twigs to stick on as branches.
