Nursery Activity Ideas - Kite Birthday Chart

A fun and colourful way to display children’s birthdays. This is a simple activity suitable for children of all ages.

You will need:

  • Large piece of plain paper
  • Paints in a variety of colours
  • Ribbon, curling ribbon or coloured string
  • Plain card
  • Colouring pencils

Activity:

On the large piece of plain paper draw an outline of a kite. As a group ask the children to decide what colours of paint they want to use. Paint the kite in the desired colours and leave to dry. On the plain card draw a bow outline for each child in the room, cut them out and let the children colour them in. Once the children have coloured in their bows, write the child’s name and their birthday on to their bow.

Once the kite is dry attach it to the wall. Next take a long length of ribbon and attach one end to the bottom of the kite and the other to the wall. Fix the children’s bows to the ribbon.

Alternatively display the children’s birthdays on the kite itself.
