Childrens Rooms

Nursery Activity Ideas - Worm String Painting

This is a fun, messy activity which is more suitable for children over the age of two, however children from about eighteen months will also be able to do this activity but may need more help.

You will need:

  • lengths of string
  • Brown paint
  • Plain paper

Activity:

Pour some brown paint into a bowl or tray and drop the string into the paint. Children can lift the string out of the paint and drop onto their paper, they can also drag the string across the paper to create more lines and patterns.

Alternatively get the children to work as a group to create one large display for the wall instead of individual pictures.

Areas of learning covered:

  • Creative development
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  • Language, Literacy and Communication skills
  • Personal and Social development
  • Physical development
