Nursery Activity Ideas - Make A Paper Plate Pumpkin Mask

This simple, fun Halloween activity is suitable for children over the age of two.

You will need:

  • Paper plates
  • Orange paint
  • Scissors
  • Wool or a straw / lollipop stick

Activity:

Paint the bottom of the paper plate with the orange paint and leave to dry. Once dry ask the children to draw the eyes, nose and mouth onto their pumpkin. Next cut holes for the eyes etc, over the children’s lines. Older children may be able to do this themselves but may need some help making the initial holes to start cutting out. Make a small hole on opposite sides of the plate and thread one length of wool through both holes, and tie to the plate so the children can wear their mask. Alternatively glue a straw or lollipop stick to the bottom, inside of the mask so the children can hold it in front of their face.

Areas of learning covered:

  • Creative development
  • Physical development
