Nursery Activity Ideas - Make A Springy Leg Frog

This colourful frog is more suitable for older children as it involves paper folding, however children of all ages can enjoy this activity with some support.

You will need:

  • Thin card outline of a frogs body
  • Thin strips of green paper
  • Card
  • Glue
  • Bright green paint
  • Googly eyes

Activity:

On the Plain card draw two frogs feet for each child and cut them out. The children can then paint their frogs body and feet with the bright green paint. Whilst these are drying make the frogs legs by glue the ends of two strips of green paper together at right angles to each other. Next fold the strips of paper back over each other to create an accordion and glue the ends together. Make two leg and leave these to dry.

Stick googly eyes onto the frog, then glue one end of the springy legs onto the frog, and the frogs feet onto the other end of the legs, again leaving flat to dry before placing on a wall display or hanging from the ceiling.

i think this is a great activity for young people

i am a group leader in a nursery and we are currently doing a jungle theme. i recently bought some different color monkeys which started the whole theme as the children show alot of interest in this. this activity is simple as i have found the children to enjoy the painting of the frog using a range of different paints and equipment and all i had to do was fold tghe paper and put the frog together. they look amazing they fit right into our theme
