Nursery Activity Ideas - Outdoor Messy Play

This is an easy to set up activity which allows children to participate in any messy play activity in the garden, particularly during the warm summer months.

You will need:

• Canopy or gazebo
• Water tray or paddling pool
• Items for your chosen messy activity

Activity:

Set the water tray or paddling pool up in a shaded area of the garden, for example under a canopy or gazebo. Fill the water tray with water, cornflour play, custard, or beans for example for the children to explore. Depending on the messy items used, and if you are using a paddling pool, allow the children to stand in it, to explore using touch through their feet and not just their hands.
