Amy: depending on the age of the children this activity can be extended in many ways.
You could do a tasting activity with the children, or tell them to close their eyes and eat some fruit, then guess what fruit they have just eaten.
Place the whole fruit in a draw string bag, the children can put their hands inside and try to guess the fruit they have picked up, or alternatively describe this fruit to other children to guess.
You may cut the fruit in half and dip them in paint, to make fruit printing pictures.
With older children you could also discuss how and where the fruit grows.

this seems a really good activity but i have one little question how would you move this on to make another activity after the children have explored the food or fruits.
