Nursery Activity Ideas - Make Your Own Sensory Feely Box
Great sensory activity for older children that they can help create themselves.
Paint the insides of a thick cardboard box in black and decorate the outsides in their own choice. Once the paint is dry, cut a round hole in the side of the box for the children to put their hand through. Without the children seeing, place several objects into the box, such as pebbles, shells, soft and rough material, wooden objects, leaves, metal objects etc.
The children can take it in turns to put their hand through the hole without looking in the box and feel the objects inside, describing them and guessing what they could be. To see if their guess is right the item can be pulled out of the box then put back in.
