Nursery Activity Ideas - Shape Printing

This activity can be completed by children of all ages. It is also a fun activity where older can become more familiar with the shape names and their properties, such as edges and corners.

You will need:

  • Trays
  • Variety of paints
  • Paper
  • Mega Blocks
  • Tea set
  • Other plastic toys such as plastic shape sorters etc.

Activity:

Place the plastic toys in the centre of a table along with small trays filled with a range of paints. The children can choose their own colour and toys and place the edges of the toy into the paint before pressing onto their paper, to create their own coloured patterns and pictures.

Whilst older children are completing this activity they can talk about the shapes of the toys they are using, colours of the paints and also about their own intentions and creations.
