Nursery Activity Ideas - “Five Little Speckled Frogs” Masks
This is an activity allowing children to participate in acting out the song during group singing time.
provide the children with some card and cut into a frog mask shape, allow the children to decorate their masks using a range of collage materials, crayons, pencils or paints of their own choice. Once the masks have dried attach a lolly pop stick to the bottom for the children to hold, or alternatively make a hole in each side of the mask and thread a piece of ribbon or string through.
During singing time five children can stand up, and use their masks to act out the song.
This can give children a greater level of interest and excitement during the morning singing time for example. It can also encourage children who wish not to sing to participate in another way. This activity develops children’s confidence, self esteem and a range of social skills.

I have done this activity personally and the children really enjoy it. it encourages individuals to take part and I often find the children going to the song box without adult in put to sing songs using the props.
