Space Rockets
A fun creative activity based on a space theme for older chidren.
You will need:
- Kitchen roll or pringle tubes
- Range of coloured paints
- Glitter
- Coloured streamers or strips of coloured paper
- Tape or glue
- Card
Activity:
Cut out a circle of card and cut a slit from the edge into the centre, folding the circle around to make a cone big enough to cover the top of the tube, and fix in place. Tape or glue the cone to the tube before cutting out triangles of card half the height of the tube. Fold the longest edge of the triangle slightly enough to affix the wings to the tube.
Once assembled the children can paint the rockets in their own choice of colours and sprinkle with glitter if they wish while the paint is still wet. Leave to dry, before allowing the children to add any other details they want, such as decoration or squares of coloured paper to make windows or doors etc. Once completely dry fix yellow, red and orange streamers or strips of paper to the bottom of the rocket.
