Nursery Activity Ideas - Beach Sand Pictures

Children of all ages can create effective textured pictures made of sand to make their very own beach.

You will need:

• Paper or card
• Glue and glue sticks
• Sand

Activity:

Provide each child with a piece of paper or card and some glue. Allow the children to spread the glue out into their own patterns and then sprinkle some sand over the picture. Pour any excess sand off the picture and then leave to dry.

During the activity children can discuss what they are doing, the feel of the sand and their own experiences at a beach. Linking into their discussions of the beach older children can be told about beach safety and the role of a coastguard and lifeguard.
