“The Three Little Pigs” Straw House

A creative group activity more suitable for children over the age of two, linking with a fairy tale topic based on the story of “the three little pigs”.

You will need:

  • Large pieces of thick plain paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Straw
  • Selotape

Tape together several pieces of plain paper, and draw an ouline of the “little Pigs” straw house. Cut out the house and as a group spread the glue onto the paper. Place the straw onto the glue so that it covers the house and leave flat to dry. Once the house is dry it can be attached to the wall, along with the house of bricks and the house of sticks to make an effective wall display.

With older children you can discuss with them what straw is and where it comes from, for example, to increase their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.
